Our colleagues in the dairy industry invested in developing the HR Toolkit, which is an excellent resource for farmers. It has just been updated and, with the support of DairyNZ, Beef + Lamb New Zealand has adapted it to suit sheep and beef farmers.
Why is Managing People Important? Good management of our people is one of the key elements of business success. Only a third of sheep and beef farmers employ full-time staff but nearly all have part-time staff and deal with contractors. Knowing how to be a good employer and achieve a good team environment is critical. The medium- to long-term outlook is that competition for good staff will get much tougher and at the same time farming will become more complex.
What's in the HR Toolkit? The HR Toolkit offers practical and effective solutions for farmers, and helps them develop better relationships with staff, resulting in less stress, better work performance and more attractive jobs for employees.
