The text-based service is free for all sheep and beef farmers. Using your location information, we'll send timely tips about lucerne management to your mobile phone, to ensure you get the right advice at the right time.
The short updates are written by Professor Derrick Moot of Lincoln University, based on the best science and information currently available.
You can also get answers to any questions you may have about establishing and managing lucerne, says Beef + Lamb New Zealand extension manager Aaron Meikle.
"It's like having Derrick as your own personal adviser."
From time to time there are also "tips and tricks" from other experts in the field, he adds.
The lucerne management service aims to help farmers improve productivity through promoting best practice as well as the latest information from Lincoln's research programme.
It's also a great early warning system to alert farmers to any local pest or disease issues, and provides farmers with another forum to request further information.
To take up this free service, email Aaron with your mobile phone number and postal address, including postcode.
You can read past messages and reminders via the Beef + Lamb New Zealand lucerne feed on Twitter: @BLNZ_Lucerne
